(Re)lationship: Landau Street Home

July 3, 2014     / / / /

It’s an amazing feeling to do what you love.  I believe everybody at RTP has had a job or two over the years that they disliked, or let’s get real…hated.  Thankfully, we all really love working with reclaimed and the people we work with along the way.  Our newest project married two of our favorite things: relationship & old wood.  Mike Riddle has been a friend for 10 years, gutting it out in the construction industry and riding out some pretty rocky times in the world of home building.  We love guys like Mike, you know the people who enjoy what they do and are really good at it.

His newest home design utilized Reclaimed Douglas Fir in interesting, but approachable ways.  The piece above the living room fireplace is a custom 22 inch wide mantel, reclaimed from the Port of Portland ship yards.  Mike left it in a natural finish, which was a great accent to the stone fireplace.

It’s no secret that I LOVE ceiling beams, like a lot.  The addition of these beams to the dining room was on point.  My photo skills, not so much but trust me they are beautiful.

On the exterior of the home two trellises, and light sconces were added to add personality and the ‘craftsman’ character that Mike infuses into his designs.

A giant thank you to Mike Riddle Construction and the Salem Home Builder’s Association for including us in this year’s Tour of Homes.  We loved every minute of it, but mostly the parts where we felt like we were on HGTV.
